The health of Mimi

Back

We handle the basic vacinations yearly basis and medications against worms two to three times a year, but there has been a few extra visits to the vet...

Once has a bee hurt Mimi's paw (summer 2004) and once has a snake bitten her at her nose (Autumn 2005) -> both needed a visit to the vet. Since the end of year 2005 there has been a problem with Mimi's eyes. She had a Cherry Eye - first in her right eye and it was operated a couple of times before it was fixed. Now she has the same problem with her left eye from time to time. The vet said it will not be operated until it still fixes itself. There's always some risk of hurting the tear canal permanently - and this would mean a lifetime of medication.

In the Spring of 2006 I noticed a bump near the lowest breast of Mimi and it was found to be a cancer and it was to be removed as soon as possible. Because the cancer in the breast is often "living" from the hormones, we desided to do a sterilization and remove her uterus at the same time. A couple of weeks she was a bit of sore, but after that everything turned out as normal. Afterwards there has not been any bigger problems with Mimi's health and let's hope it keeps this way in the future, too.
